SRINAGAR Authorities suspended the mobile internet service in central and south Kashmir districts in wake of phase-II of Lok Sabha polls even as a complete shutdown was observed in Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts on the call by Joint Resistance Leadership, an amalgam of Hurriyat Conference and JKLF.
All the shops and other business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads in three districts. Schools and colleges are closed along with government offices in these district due to holiday announced by the government. Heavy deployment of the police and paramilitary forces has been made at all the sensitive places across the parliamentary constituency seat comprising of of 15 assembly segments

Twelve candidates are in fray for the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency seat and include National Conference president Farooq Abdullah who seeks re-election.
Meanwhile, at least 25 youths and government forces personnel were injured in clashes in several parts of central Kashmir.
A constable of Armed Police Vipon Kumar of 5th battalion was injured after being hit by a stone during clashes at Charisharief in Budgam, Head Constable Hafizullah was injured at Kakaring Charisharief, Head Constable Ghulam Mohd of IR 4th, constable Sajad, constable Rahul Malik and three CRPF men were injured in Beerwah Town.
Similar reports of clashes were reported from Machowa, Kralpora, Hafroo, Chadoora in Budgam, Srinagar’s Safakadal, Nowabazar, Gojwara, Hawal, Batmaloo and some parts of Ganderbal including Mammar Kangan and Barsoo. The forces deployed in these areas used tear smoke shells, pellets and few aerial shots to disperse the protesting youth during which eighteen persons including a woman were injured.
Among the injured, one youth namely Mohd Asif Bhat sustained a bulletin wound in his thigh at Hafroo Chadoora and was immediately taken to nearby hospital where from he was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar for specialised treatment.
