365 days in a year , approximately 52 Sundays . That would account for more than 300 working days in a year but wait a minute, it is Kashmir every day a cliffhanger. Where one may sleep accustomed but seldom wakes up without a herald announcing a royal Farman on the mobile screens , someday encounter then hartaals followed by curfews and we as students knew what it means; another day of truancy to schools, colleges and universities. Unrest in kashmir has worst affected the education since then. The latest highway ban farman is no different than previous ones.
They might have allowed to run the school buses, but neither the Institutional authority nor parents are ready to let their children on the road roamed by military in full battle gear. When a small KG kid ponders on the unexpected holiday his parents are obliged to give vent to their frustration against Indian state which sows the seed of hatred a tender mind. The young adults are no less provoked as if they are enslaved to these faramns.
Many of the schools, colleges like ours are closed .When you dont get enough working days. Students have to cover most the syllabus themselves. The professionals have to suffer more owing to the closure of their clinics and other curricular activities. One can not expect to be a trained professional when he misses out 2 or 3 days per week of his or her clinical posting and most of the curricular and co-curricular activities. In compensating the lost hours of study block a 4 year degree sometimes stretches to extra six or more months. This brings down the quality of education and disturbs the psychological state of a students mind.
Education must be the top priority. The authorities need to reconsider the value of education. A simple convoy movement must not affect our future. Today it seems to be a one day loss which in fact is a vague argument when we see it in the context of total number of days we miss out in a whole year and if a convoy can restrict our schooling why cant other futile issues.
