SRINAGAR Authorities on Monday ordered a probe after a huge quantity of medicines meant for poor from the supplies of Kashmir’s largest heatlhcare facility SKIMS Soura was seized from a private drugstore in Bandipora district.
Acting on an input, an official team headed by drug inspector Monday raided the medical shop of Zahoor Ahmad Malla in Chitteybandy area and seized huge quantity of medicines including Glanstill, Triglon and Axapara injections besides infusion sets from SKIMS supply.
NS Gulcose, Ceftriaxone and compound sodium lactate injections and dextrose belonging to Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) and Medroxy Progesto injection from free supply under Antara Programme of government of India were also seized during the raid.
The seized medicines, which according to the officials are worth lakhs of rupees, were meant to be distributed among poor patients.
We seized a huge quantity of medicines at Chittey Bandy area, said Bilal Ahmad Rather, Drug inspector Bandipora.
Among the medicine include a huge quantity of antibiotics, contraceptive injections and other medicines meant for free supply, he said.
The team on spot sealed the medical shop. An inquiry has been initiated to ascertain why the medicine was kept in the shop. Most of the poor patients who cannot buy medicine from the market have often complained that the hospital authorities are not providing medicine to needy patients.
