SRINAGAR A lecturer and five teachers were among nine employees suspended for violating the model code of conduct in northern Kashmirs Kupwara and Bandipora districts on Saturday.
Reports said that the lecturer who is also district president EJAC for Kupwara and two teachers were suspended in the frontier district after they were spotted in political rallies carried by Peoples Conference (PC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Two government employees Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Fayaz Mir (EJAC district president Kupwara), a lecturer at Higher Secondary School Hatmullah and Zaheer Ahmad Mirchal, a teacher at Government Higher Secondary School Nawagabra Karnah, were spotted in political rallies at two different places in Karnah held by PDP contesting candidate Abdul Qayoom Wani.
The MCC teams confirm the participation of the teachers in political gatherings in violation of model code of conduct, said an order issued by the District Election Officer Kupwara.
The violation of model code of conduct by any government employee is a matter of serious concern as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and deserves punitive action within the purview of guidelines laid down in this regard, the order reads.
Ghulam Mohammad Mir was attached with the office of the Deputy District Election Officer Kupwara and Zaheer Ahmad Mirchal with the Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate Tanghdar, Karnah with immediate effect.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara shall conduct an enquiry into the matter of MCC violation committed by Ghulam Mohammad Mir and sub divisional magistrate Tangdar Karnah shall conduct enquiry into the matter of MCC violation committed by Zaheer Ahmad Mirchal. Both the officers will furnish their report within 15 days, the order said
In another similar order, Ali Gowhar Khan, Master Government High School Gundishart, Karnah was suspended after he was spotted by the video surveillance team in a gathering organized by Raja Aijaz Ali Khan for the Lok Sabha Elections from Baramulla.
The reports from MCC teams confirmed the participation of the accused official in the political gathering in violation of model conduct, the order reads.
After examining the video clip and the photograph furnished by video surveillance team, Tehsildar Karnah confirmed the participation of the accused employee in the said political gathering.
Keeping in view the reports pending enquiry Ali Gowhar Khan, Master Government High school Gundshart Karnah has been placed under suspension and attached to office of the Deputy District Election Kupwara.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora suspended six government officials including three teachers for violating MCC.
Deputy commissioner Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza who is also the DEO placed six government officials under suspension after they were found involved in violating MCC.
Those who have been suspended include Abdul Raouf Shah (ReT zone Gurez), Istiyaq zaibullah lone (RRT zone Gurez), Tariq Ahmad Wani (Sr.Asstt. Agriculture Department SDAO Office Sumbal, Irshad Ahmad Mir (X-Ray Technician SDH Dawar), Fayaz Ahmed Malik (Master girls high school Nadihal and Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh (Forest Protection Watcher).
“As recommended by the MCMC Committee pending Enquiry into the matter, six officials are placed under suspension with immediate effect, ” reads an order No: DCB/Ic/2019/96-108 issued by DEO Bandipora.
It further reads that additional district development commissioner Bandipora will conduct an in-depth inquiry into the conduct of the officials and submit his report for taking further disciplinary action against these employees.
“The officials shall remain attached with their respective district head offices,” the order added.
