SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) led Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has appealed people to follow the Muthaida Majlis-e-Mashrawat programmes in letter and spirit as the very existence of this committee was significant to bring unanimity in the approach and thinking among the pro-freedom groups fighting for the common cause.
In a statement issued here, the conglomerate said MMM- alliance of pro-freedom groups and parties- is currently engaged in a a campaign to mount pressure on the government to press for the return of the mortal remains of Afzal Guru and Maqbool to their respective families in Kashmir.
The spokesman said the MMM- alliance of pro-freedom parties and forums- consists representatives of all the pro-freedom groups and was dutifully discharging its duties as a united coordination council. He said it was the need of the hour that pro-freedom people should progress ahead with common approach and thinking.
Meanwhile, the APHC has said that the demand of old city inhabitants to remove the bunkers from the area was justified in all terms. However, the spokesman said that instead of conceding to the just demand of residents, the government has unleashed the new reign of terror by conducting unwanted arrests and harassing people. The spokesman has denounced the government action against the residents and demanded the immediate removal of bunkers from old city. He said the bunkers are creating unnecessary problems for the residents and have been the cause of many deaths.
The spokesman condemns the arrest of Bilal Ahmad Dar of Mang Hal Islamabad who later died under mysterious death under the custody of forces. More so APHC condemns the arrest of Mashooq Magray, Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Imran Ahmad and two youth from the Hazratbal. The spokesman said the goverenment is hell bent to detain and murder Kashmiri youth in a bid to bring its version of peace in kashmir.
The spokesman has further demanded the immediate release of youth incarcerated in different jails across Kashmir and in parts of India.
