SRINAGAR: The National Society for the Prevention of Blindness (NSPB) India is going to observe Prevention of Blindness Week from April 1 across the Country.
Being the part of the Annual Campaign of the Society, the theme for the week is Systematic Diseases Affecting the Eyes.
During the week, the State and district branches of the society, in collaboration with other Government and Non- Governmental Organizations (NGO) would focus on the diseases which affect the health of Eye.
The objective of observing the week is to alert the community about various risk factors that lead to eye injuries and other causes of visual impairment , educate the people on the possible eye problems, their complications and the need for the periodic eye checkup by an ophthalmologist, work with eye clinics , dedication camps to facilitate checkup of individuals, provide teachers, social workers and health personnel with the information to be disseminated to follow the precautions for proper eye hygiene.
The society would also involve health personnel from the government departments, state health education bureau and other voluntary agencies are involved to increase the reach of the program.
