SRINAGAR The I-League contest between Real Kashmir FC and East Bengal, scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed due to thick snow cover at the TRC Ground in Srinagar, the venue.
An All India Football Federation (AIFF) team visited the ground in the morning on Friday and concluded that the match could not be held there. The stands were covered with a thick layer of snow and it would take time for the Jammu & Kashmir administration to clear it, according to an official.
The region has seen heavy snowfall in the last few days.
Due to bad weather and pitch condition in Srinagar, our next match versus Kashmir FC on February 10 has been called off. [The] new date of the match will be announced later, the East Bengal club announced on Twitter.

Real Kashmir co-owner Sandeep Chattoo uploaded a picture of the snow-covered ground, on his Facebook page.
On Wednesday, however, a contest had been held at the ground in difficult conditions. Players from Gokulam FC and the home team Real Kashmir played amid snow and rain.
Important tie
The Real Kashmir-East Bengal fixture is an important one for the teams, as both remain in contention for the title. Real Kashmir is on 32 points from 16 matches, while East Bengal has 28 points from 14 matches.
The Snow Leopards next contest is against Minerva Punjab on February 17.
