SRINAGAR: Continuing its expansion in the state of J&K, HDFC Bank, one of the premier banks in the country, opened two rural branches in Jammu & Kashmir. The new branches are located at Chadura in the Budgam District and Dooru Shahabad branch in the Anantnag District of J&K. HDFC Bank is the first new-generation private sector bank to set up operations in these areas. Amongst the private banks, HDFC Bank currently has the largest network of 56 branches and 150 ATMs in the state. As of December 31, 2012, HDFC Bank has a countrywide network of 2,776 branches and 10,490 ATMs.
Mr. Zubair Iqbal, Circle Head, J&K, HDFC Bank inaugurated the full-service rural branches in the presence of senior officials of the bank. Among others Cluster Heads Iftikhar Ahmed, Showket Ahmad Nahvi & Ayesha Kutey was also present. The new branches will offer customers world-class banking services under one roof ranging from basic services such as Savings Account, Fixed Deposits, Current Account, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Two-wheeler loan, Auto loan to sophisticated direct access banking channels such as ATM, PhoneBanking, NetBanking and International Credit and Debit Cards.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new branch, Mr. Zubair Iqbal, Vice President & Circle Head (J&K), said, The bank has shown tremendous growth in last 2 years and from 10 branches & 20 ATMs in April 2011, we have increased our network to 56 branches and 150 ATMs. This large scale expansion has generated employment avenues to more than 1000 state subjects. During same time bank has also taken CD ratio to 37%. Bank has also contributed significantly in priority Sector and Agriculture. The focus of the bank is to reach out to the large unbanked segment in the state and provide banking solutions and accessibility to funds. We will take our branch network to 60 by end of March 2013 and ATM network to 160. We are committed to provide world class banking services to our brethren in the state, he said.
