SRINAGAR Pakistan on Thursday rejected Indias objections to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshis phone call to Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Express Tribune reported.
The Foreign Office, in a statement, reiterated that Kashmir is a pending dispute between the two nations and that the same had been acknowledged through United Nations Security Council resolutions and various treaties signed between India and Pakistan including the Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration.
Pakistani Foreign Office further rejected any insinuation meant to project the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people of rights to self-determination as terrorism.
Pakistan is committed to extending its political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of occupied Kashmir, the statement added.
It further stated that Pakistan will maintain its support and solidarity with Kashmiris until the dispute is resolved peacefully in accordance with the UNSC resolutions and wishes of the people of the occupied territory.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged New Delhi to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate the incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct Indian forces to respect the agreement in letter and spirit and maintain peace along the Line of Control. However, the violation of the truce has been continuing.
Earlier in 2018, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a report revealing impunity for human rights violations and lack of access to justice to be among human rights challenges in Kashmir.
Delhis Objection Lowest Point Of Its Foreign Policy: Mehbooba
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday lamented the politicizing of the phone conversation between Pakistan foreign minister and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, calling it as lowest unsuccessful point in foreign policy of India.
Terming a phone call between Pakistani FM & Mirwaiz Umar Farooq sahab as anti-India has reduced ties to an unbelievable nadir, Mehbooba tweeted.
In a series of tweets, Mehbooba said it was during the NDA rule under former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that meetings between Hurriyat leadership and Pakistani officials were facilitated besides allowing separatist to visit Pakistan.
Ironically it was NDA under Vajpayee ji that facilitated meetings between Hurriyat leaders & Pakistani dignitaries plus allowing them to visit Pakistan to hold talks with the establishment including the then President General Musharraf, she said.
She added: A foreign policy dictated by the compulsions of electoral politics is shockingly pathetic.
