SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation has initiated a drive against the telecom companies and various other companies indulging in defacement of the walls in the city.
SMC in this regard has white washed all the defaced walls wearing shabby look from various areas of the city including Airport road, Hyderpora, Baaghat, Barzulla ,Rambagh, Rajbagh, and Iqbal park.
Further the Corporation has served notice to the telecom companies involved in painting and sticking posters on walls, buildings, public properties for their publicity without any permission to refrain from defacing, writing upon or otherwise marking any building, monument, post ,wall, fence.
Moreover, all the shopkeepers have been strictly prohibited to display or erect advertisements of any company or business house on their shutters, roofs, walls.
The appropriate action shall be taken against the offenders under the provisions of The Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act-2000 read with defacement of property Act-1985 who fails to comply with the directions and shall be penalized without serving further notice.
