SRINAGAR: A Block Medical Officer in the Pulwama district, who had examined the body of a local youth who died in Hyderabad last month, has been demoted from his position.
Orders removing Dr. Sanaullah from his post and appointing him as assistant surgeon have been issued by the director of health services in Kashmir, sources said.
He has been replaced as BMO by Dr. Fazal Masoodi.
Sanaullah was shifted a month after he said that the body of Muddassir Kamran bore marks of torture.
A PhD student, Kmaran had been found dead in his hostel room in Hyderabad last month.
A report by the Hyderabad police said Kamran had committed suicide because of personal reasons, but his family in Kashmir alleged that he had been murdered for being a part of protests against the execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru.
