SRINAGAR The State Taxes Department, Kashmir division, has recovered a demand of Rs 3.70 crore from the erring dealers.
As per a handout issued here, the department, under the supervision of Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement) Kashmir Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, carried out various inspections under relevant provisions of GST Act, 2017.
During the inspections, it came to fore that certain dealers have devised a unique mechanism of hiding their inward and outward transactions by allotting codes to these transactions to evade the taxes.
After detecting the dishonest practice, the department has initiated an action against the erring dealers as warranted under GST Law, read the official communiqué.
The department has recovered a demand of Rs 3.70 crore including cess of Rs1.65 crore during the current month from the erring dealers while carrying out the through examinations and scrutiny of books of accounts seized during the inspection, disclosures made by these dealers about their sales and purchases and throughtheir GST returns, read the press release issued here.
