SRINAGAR Members of Peoples Alliance assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar and staged protests against assault on Sheikh Imran, Deputy Mayor of the city.
Holding placards that read Put the culprits behind bars, Junaid Hataw, Kashmir Bachao, BJP Ka Jo Yaar Hai, Gadhar Hai Gadhar Hai”.
Protesters sought an intervention of authorities in removing the SMC Mayor Junaid Azim Matto and an action against those involved in what they described as pre-planned attack on Deputy Mayor.
The protestors alleged that the attack on Imran was pre-planned under a conspiracy of BJP RSS backed corporators and both the commissioner and Mayor are a part of this conspiracy.
Imran Blames Mayor For Attack
Deputy Mayor Srinagar, Sheikh Imran Tuesday demanded a probe in the SMC incident as according to him Mayor had a clear intention to kill him on the spot.
“Will resume office on Wednesday morning as he will not bear peoples suffering and will not tolerate BJP, RSS proxies running Srinagar city. Regarding Mondays incident, Imran termed it as unfortunate and said seating arrangement for corporators were randomly arranged and preplanned.
There was neither protocol followed nor any rule was applied by the Mayor. As per protocol Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Commissioner should have the same place like in other states but my chair was placed deliberately in-between BJP corporators, he said.
I inquired from Commissioner SMC about the pick and choose seating arrangement of corporators, but he said he got directions from Mayor.
Imran said Junaid Azim Mattu had allowed 43 (passes) illegally and BJP sponsored corporators attempted to kill him. He said he had filed FIR report against them and truth will prevail.
He appealed his corporators to resume their duties from tomorrow as people are suffering. I got hundreds of calls related to public grievances, he said.
