SRINAGAR The governor administration has asked all Deputy Commissioners, all the officers, officials and employees of their respective districts to attend the 26 January function as a part of their official duty.
In an order issued here, the government has asked the deputy commissioners to make all the necessary arrangements in their respective districts and ensure that the 26th January was celebrated in a befitting manner.
The seventieth republic day of our nation will be celebrated on the 26th January (Saturday) across the State with traditional fervor and gaiety. It is impressed upon all the Deputy Commissioners to make all the necessary arrangements in their respective Districts/Divisions/tehsils to ensure that the Republic Day 2019 (26th January) as be celebrated in a befitting manner(sic), reads an order issued by the government.
It shall also be ensured that the officers/officials/ employees of their respective Districts, attend the function as a part of their official duty. Besides, invitation may be extended to the local representatives and the general public to participate in the Republic Day function, it added.
The main R-Day functions is scheduled to be held at the University of Jammu where the Governor will take the salute. At Srinagar, the main function will take place at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonawar here.

Republic Day is an important national event celebrated on January 26 each year. It is the duty of every government servant to attend the function which commemorates an important turning point in the history of our Nation, reads a circular issued by government.
All the officers and officials of the State Government stationed at Jammu and Srinagar are, therefore, enjoined upon to attend the functions of the Republic Day Celebration, 2019, at the University of Jammu and Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonawar, Srinagar respectively, as a part of their official duty, it said.
Failure to attend the function will be constructed as dereliction of duty and disobedience of Government instructions, it said.
All the Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the Departments, Managing Directors/Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings are requested to ensure that all officers/officials working under their administrative control, and stationed at Srinagar/Jammu, attend the function at their respective places, the circular added.
