SRINAGAR Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) released it’s annual calendar on Tuesday at Partap Park, Srinagar. The calendar features the story of one disappeared person along with his photograph for each month.
“Through this calendar, we are pledging to keep the memory of our loved ones alive. It documents the pain and struggle of the victims of enforced disappearances in Kashmir,” Parveena Ahangar, chairman of APDP said. The calendar portrays the cases of 12 Kashmiris who disappeared in custody since 1989. The twelve include a student, a tailor, a farmer and others.
“We started releasing an annual calendar four years back in 2016. This is one of the ways to keep the names of our disappeared loved ones alive,” she further said.
According to human rights groups, more than 8000 Kashmir is have been subjected to enforced disappearances in Kashmir. The families of the victims have been relentlessly seeking their whereabouts under the banner of APDP.
