In today’s world of rapid change, transformation and progress, new career paths are constantly unfolding, traditional ones are being changed and shifts are taking place in occupation skills and educational requirements. These changes are a result of new technology, modifications in organizational design and the trend towards global business operations. With all these changes, you might ask “What is the point of planning ahead by developing a career plan?” It is important to be ready for change with a set of career goals, strategies and options based on your interests, personality, values and skills. Once you have a plan, you will be equipped to manage your career and take advantage of your goodness.
Planning your career is totally your responsibility. It is up to you to do the planning and take the necessary actions to obtain the education and training that will support your career plans. However, you can get help from your mentor or teacher regarding:
The strategy for career planning, how to find the information you need how to overtake the obstacles, how to go about planning your current and long-term education and training. But here Keep in mind, throughout your life, you are the one who must make all the decisions about your career and produce the results that support your goals. Its up to you to control and navigate your own destiny. The mentor the teacher and your Parents are not the part of your doings but it’s always who has to brush yourself its you who need to be straight and clear about your strategy and goals all. And in the same regard we often take the Career choice in an easy way here I found the reason is some of the following myths:
- Choosing a career is simple: Which I think is totally a myth choosing a career can be anything but simple, no way and for the right choice we have to spend time and think again and again you must learn about yourself, including your skills, interests, work-related values and personality type and at the same time gather information about the careers you are considering.
- Earning a lot of money will make us happy: Money is important but at the same time it is not only the one that is important. Hence for a good human being, enjoying what we do at work is much more important. However, we should consider earnings, among other things, when evaluating an occupation. We have to make enough money to pay the bills and to live the lifestyle as per our wishes.
- Your Best Friend’s Dream Career Will Be Yours Too: The person with whom you are closest may have, what appears to be, the best career ever. You may think “if it’s good for him or her, it will be good for me.” That could be true, but it may also not be so. Even if that other person is someone with whom you have a lot in common, you may not enjoy doing the same type of work. Look into it as carefully as you would any other occupation to make sure it’s a good fit for you. And the myths are more and more. But while choosing a career we should forget about all these and have to focus on an important thing that is assessing us.
Always before choosing the right career, we must learn about ourselves. Our values, interests, soft skills, and aptitudes, in combination with our personality type, make some occupations a good fit for us and others completely inappropriate. Use self-assessment tools, often called career tests, to gather information about your traits and, subsequently generate a list of occupations that are a good fit based and this all is possible by understanding yourself as the
Understanding yourself is a critical aspect of career and educational exploration and planning for always. The more you know about your career-related interests, values, skills, personality type and preferences, the better equipped you will be to identify the career fields, major areas of study and training programs, and education pathways that are compatible with your personal attributes. This system will help you develop an accurate self-assessment of your personal qualities and it is well said that the Interests are a reflection of the kinds of work-related activities and tasks you most enjoy doing And it should be remembered always that Personality Type is a description of how you react to certain situations and people and how you make decisions, organize information and solve problems.
Here at the end I want to conclude with the remarks for the students as choosing a career is a big decision and the irony is that we are not prepared to take such a big decision at the time we require taking it we must be very careful while choosing our career. We must not enter a field just because our friend or sibling has taken it up or our parents want us to go for it. We should listen to our heart, understand what really interests us, see if we are good at it and then look forward to other aspects attached to it. The other aspects may include the cost involved in the course we wish to pursue, the demand of such professionals in the market, the packages being offered in the field we want to enter and the growth prospects in the field.
