JAMMU The fourth lecture session of State’s maiden international skill and upskilling programme for startups was held here today during which reputed experts delivered lectures on various facets of skill and entrepreneurship development.
During the session, Jason Furness, one of the directors of BRIDGE Institute Singapore, delivered a lecture on Sales and Growth. The session included lectures and presentations on creating growth, exploring a number of key areas, including understanding customer needs, building long-lasting solutions, building trust-based relationships and managing key relationships strategically.
The programme is being organized by J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) in partnership with BRIDGE Institute.
It is the first of its kind programme in J&K wherein budding start-ups are directly interacting with global industry experts and gaining information on different vision and strategies which can be put into use by these start-ups for scaling up their venture.
The fully-sponsored programme is being taught by 10 internationally acclaimed industry experts from various countries and focuses on the themes such as finance & accounting, sales & growth, branding & marketing, human resource management, team building, service excellence and future technologies.
To promote skill and entrepreneurship development in the state, JKSDM has been organizing various youth development programmes in collaboration with national and multinational organizations.
MSMEs 6-week training course on entrepreneurship, skill development concludes
Six weeks training course on the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Auto CA discipline organized by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium enterprises (MSME-G01) and Technology through their MSME Development Institute and Development Srinagar (Sanatnagar) concluded here.
During the course, 10 candidates received the training and were provided the certificates by the Director Industries Commerce Bilal Ahmad during the concluding function.
On the occasion the director apprised the role of industries and Commerce department with regards to establishing business units bny unemployed youth under various self-employment schemes. He called for conducting more such programmes at Block level/ District level in the state.
On the occasion the Consultant of the Dept of MS ME GOT – Mir Altaf Ahimad, Assistant Director MSME-D1 Srinagar and other officers were also present in addition to the trainees.
The Consultant gave a presentation regarding various programs/ schemes run by the department of MSME in the country and the importance of the such training courses. He said that such training courses will be carried out on in the ‘future too, so that the budding and aspiring entrepreneurs can develop their talent and experience. He further asked the unemployed youth to avail the opportunity of these schemes.
Director MSME also threw the light on various activities, of the MSME Department in the State, which can provide the benefits for establishing the profitable business units by the unemployed youth in the State.
261 cases of aspiring entrepreneurs approved
Two Hundred and Sixty One (261) cases of aspiring entrepreneurs sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) under different schemes were approved by the Steering Committee which met here on Thursday.
The 118th Steering Committee meeting of Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) and 62nd meeting of Youth Startup Loan Scheme (YSLS) was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, Labour & Employment Department, J&K Government. Those who participated in the meeting were Mr. Suman Bhagat, Director Employment Department, Syed Shafat Hussain, Vice-President A&AP Division, J&K Bank Limited, Dr. Majid Manzoor Khan, Chief Faculty JKEDI as Member/Secretary, District Nodal Officers of JKEDI from Kashmir division, Officers of the Employment Department and sectoral experts from the line departments.
Out of 402 cases placed before the Committee 235 cases were approved under Seed Capital Fund Scheme while 26 cases were approved under the Youth Startup Loan Scheme. 189 cases were deferred and will be taken up in the next meeting. Two cases were dropped/rejected by the Steering Committee. The decision in respect of the deferred cases shall be taken in the next meeting as more clarifications were sought.
The Steering Committee shall meet again at Jammu on December 18, 2018 to clear the cases
