SRINAGAR Two army soldiers were injured on Wednesday after troops of India and Pakistan exchanged fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of north Kashmirs Baramulla district.
Official sources said that the Indo-Pak armies exchanged fire along the LoC at Kamalkote area of Uri sector on Wednesday morning which continued for about 15 minutes.
In the incident, two army soldiers Sepoy Dubey Vishvanath, Naik M Vilan of 8 RR received injuries and were taken to a nearby health facility for treatment, they said, adding that Dubey was later shifted to army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh for advanced treatment.
An army officer also confirmed the incident saying, There was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Uri sector today morning. Two soldiers were injured and evacuated to hospital. Our troops retaliated appropriately.
Meanwhile, after a lull, the cross-border shelling again raged in the sector and when reports last came in, the intermittent firing between the two sides were going on.
