SRINAGAR: No Friday prayer was offered on the second consecutive week in historic Jamia masjid and some other major mosques in the Kashmir valley, where indefinite curfew remained imposed for the second straight day today.
Friday prayers were however offered in small mosques in the interior areas of the city.
All the gates of Jamia Masjid remained closed with a large number of security force and state police personnel remains deployed outside.
This is the fourth time no Friday prayers could be offered in the Jamia masjid since Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9 because of curfew restrictions.
No Friday prayers could be offered in Imambargah Budgam in the central Kashmir for the second week today.
