NEW DELHI Complimenting J&K for its impressive performance for achieving 100% household electrification under flagship Saubhagya scheme, the Union Power Ministry has asked other states to take a cue from Jammu and Kashmir in this regard.
On the lines of the extensive campaign launched by J&K to rule out the possibility of any household remaining unelectrified in the State, similar campaigns may be planned and adopted by the other states to ensure that no household remains unelectrified in any area, said a communication addressed by the Under Secretary, Union Power Ministry to the Additional Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries/Secretaries (Power/Energy) of various states.
It said Jammu & Kashmir, after declaring 100% household electrification, has launched a campaign wherein a special vehicle SaubhagyaRath is moving in each district to rule out the possibility of any household remaining un-electrified.
The campaign is being widely publicized through media so that any left-out household is reported. Such households, if any, would be provided on the spot electricity connection. The contact details of in-charge for each district have also been published by J&K Government, the communication said.
It said that all the states and DISCOMS also expected to achieve the target of 100% electrification by 31 December 2018. While the concerned DISCOMs/Power Departments must be taking necessary steps to ensure electrification of all remaining households, it is important to validate and cross-check if all the households have been electrified as is being done in J&K, the communication said.
