SRINAGAR The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Tuesday directed the Vice Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to raze down the illegal shops which have been constructed at Cheshmashai garden.
Following the complaint received against the illegal shops located outside the garden, Baseer directed that the action should be taken against the owners.
One of the complaints was filed by Advocate Asif Bashir, Chairman of Human Rights Forum before the Divisional Com Kashmir with the submission that the shops located outside the gate of Cheshmashai garden are illegal and having no permission from any authorized department.
As such during the year of 2010, the minister of horticulture and floriculture also made a decision to start a demolition drive, which has been delayed so far, the complainant notes. During the gap of eight years, no action has been taken either by floriculture dept or LAWDA towards encroachment, which points towards involvement of officials and reveals their vested interest in the matter, the complainant added.
Following the complaint, Baseer directed VC LAWDA to take action.
The LAWDA VC after receiving the direction has passed orders to Deputy SP LAWDA to take necessary action under law against kiosk, shops at Cheshmashai Srinagar. He also asked the officer to give feedback after disposal of complaint in two days.
