SRINAGAR The first snowfall of the season on Saturday lead to traffic jams at many spots in the city.
The traffic jams made commuters fume over the mismanagement of traffic police. At many places long lines of vehicles were witnessed with people taking hours to travel thee distance of few minutes.
As per eyewitnesses hundreds of vehicles remained stranded at Maulana Azad and Residency Road after the city witnessed a light spell of snowfall this afternoon. Traffic jams were also witnessed at Jehangir Chowk as hundreds of vehicles came to a halt due to the mishandling of traffic by the policemen.
It took me an hour to reach Lal Chowk from Hyderpora due to traffic snarls. At few places the cops diverted traffic causing more inconvenience to the commuters ,said a local resident, Bilal Ahmad.
Due to the snowfall the traffic cops were missing from the beats. Bilal said that crucial junctions were left unmanned by the traffic police which made the situation more worse. Commuters said that the traffic regulation was missing in the absence of cops.
