SRINAGAR Temperatures have sharply fallen and weathermen are forecasting moderate to heavy snowfall in upper reaches and rains in plains in next two to three days.
Director MeT Sonam Lotus, said: Moderate to heavy snowfall in upper reaches like Sonamarg and Zojila and rains in the afternoon hours in plains particularly parts of Central Kashmir areas including Srinagar and Budgam and some North Kashmir areas are expected in next 2-3 days.
He said there was no alarming weather forecast which could cause anxiety among people is forecasted.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan has directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the valley including Leh and Kargil districts to establish snow clearance control rooms in their offices, an official spokesman said.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir issued the direction while reviewing the stock of preparedness to be made for pre and post snowfall across Kashmir division including Leh and Kargil districts.
Khan said that in these control rooms, officers of all concerned departments will sit to provide each and every information to the local population regarding snow clearance preparedness and arrangements made by the District Administration for winter months so that people do not face any kind of inconvenience post snowfall in the valley as well as in Ladakh region.
