SRINAGAR Kashmir-based Travel Company Centre Tour and Travels has gained distinction of being first company from Valley to bag National Tourism Award for third time for their performance in bringing inbound tourists to India for year 2016-17.
Union Tourism Minister, K.J. Alphons gave away the award to the company in recognition of its contribution to the promotion of tourism in India.
It was the only company from JK which was felicitated at the function held at the Vigyan Bhawan.
The award segments for tour and travel operators were divided into three categories: Inbound, Domestic and MICE tourism.
Earlier CTTC bagged national tourism awards for the year 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Managing partner, CTTC, Bashir Ahmad said Company was awarded national tourism award in the category of travel companies having bought foreign exchange of Rs 10- 25 crore in a year. Thank Allah it is our third award which gives us immense happiness that we are doing our bit to promote tourism in Kashmir.
Earlier in 2013-14 we received 1st prize in category inbound category 6. In year 2015 -16 we received in category 5 first prize in inbound again. This year we received second prize in category 4 which means our business is growing with each passing year which is a good sign, he said.
He said that total awards in inbound tour operator category are divided into 6 categories. Each category receives 2 awards.
Ahmad said it is the hard work of all my brothers especially Nazir Karnai who works very hard in North America, Vancouver to promote tourism to India. We have already 600 + high end tourists coming to India starting from Oct 2018 to Mar’ 2019.
He said that they will continue to strive hard to achieve more success in the future.
Tourism Minister K J Alphons today presented National Tourism Awards 2016-17 in New Delhi. The awards were given in various segments of the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Andhra Pradesh bagged the first prize in state category for comprehensive development of tourism.
The state got the prize for promoting Andhra Pradesh Tourism as a global tourism brand. Kerala bagged the second prize for comprehensive development of tourism. Rajasthan and Goa jointly shared the third prize. The awardees were chosen on the basis of several parameters including tourist footfall, initiative of the state government and policies taken to make the state tourist friendly. (KNS)
