JAMMU / NEW DELHI A BSF jawan, who went missing from a forward area along the Indo-Pak international border in Jammu early Tuesday, was found dead, officials said.
They said the head constable rank jawan is suspected to have been hit by a fatal sniper shot from across the border when troops were clearing the tall sarkanda grass ahead of their border post in the RS Pora area.
The body of the jawan has been found by a search party. It is suspected that he was shot with a precise aim by the Pakistani side when they were clearing the area near the fence, a senior official said.
The incident took place in the R S Pura sector of the IB after Pakistan opened fire at few locations on the Indian side including few Border Security Force (BSF) posts.
They said the Indian side retaliated to the small arms fire from the other side and while manhunt was launched to find the man, who has been present near the fence area.
CRPF Man Injured In Militant Attack
A CRPF personnel was injured in a militant attack Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police official said.
Militants opened fire on personnel at the Central Reserve Police Force camp at Newa in Pulwama, the official said.
The injured has been identified as CRPF personnel Moyeen Khan, he said.
The area has been cordoned off as other security agencies, including the Army, have joined the operation to track down the militants, the official said. (With PTI Inputs)
