SRINAGAR Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday said that slapping Public Safety Act (PSA) on innocent political activists and shifting them to jails in Jammu is nothing but an act of persecution of peaceful political dissent.
According to a statement, JKLF vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt while leading a protest sit-in at Lal Chowk condemned the brutal killing of pro-resistance activists Hakim Ur Rehman of Sopore and Abdul Ahad of Kupwara, custodial killing of another Kashmiri Asif Nazir Dar at Zakoora Srinagar, unrelenting spree of arrests by police in Kashmir and slitting of throat of a Kashmiri inmate Feroz Ahmad Hajam by SOG at Kokernag.
He said hundreds of young and old have been arrested by police, SOG and other agencies during last few months.
Kashmiris are facing worst apathy in Tihar jail, Mandawali Jail and jails of Jammu Kashmir, he said.
It is the obligation of the international community, human rights organizations, civil societies, ICRC and others to take note of this; intervene to safeguard the rights of these prisoners of conscience and use their good offices to get them released from incarceration, Butt said.
