SRINAGAR A National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Friday sent Syed Shakeel Yousuf, son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin, to 10-day remand of the central probe agency.
Reports said the special NIA court sent Shakeel Yousuf into the custody of the agency till September 10.
Shakeel Yousuf was arrested from Rambagh area of Srinagar during a night raid on Thursday.
Yousuf works as a lab technician at SKIMS Soura.
Last year, the central probe agency arrested Syed Shahid Yousuf, another son of Salahuddin in a funding case. Shahid is lodged in Tihar Jail since.
Shahid was an employee of Agriculture department.
He was posted as an agricultural assistant in Soibugh – his native village. Following his arrest in October last year, he was suspended from his job.
UJC Condemns
Terming the arrest of his son by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as an act of vengeance, United Jihad Council (UJC) on Friday said that such moves wont break the resolve of its chief Syed Salahuddin, said a statement.
Syed Shakeel Ahmad, elder son of the UJC chief, was arrested by the NIA during a raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar yesterday. Another son of Salahuddin was arrested by the NIA in October last year. He is lodged in Tihar Jail since.
Addressing a meeting, UJC secretary general Sheikh Jameel ur Rehman said the arrest of Shakeel was a cowardly and revengeful act which wont break the resolve of Salahuddin.
The fictitious chargesheet of the NIA cant hoodwink anyone, he said, according to the statement issued from Muzaffarabad.
He also condemned the harassment of the relatives of the militants.
