SRINAGAR A video has surfaced in which some of officials of State Pollution Control Board can be allegedly seen taking bribe from a Unit holder.
The undated video according to sources has been shot a couple of months ago at State Pollution Control Board office that is located in Lal Mandi, Srinagar.
A person can be seen putting money in the drawer of a woman official. Sources said when the Chairman SPCB watched the video the woman official in question claimed that she was receiving the bribe for a male official who is an engineer.
An official on condition of anonymity said that instead of taking stringent action against the two officials in question (both can be seen in the video), Chairman State Pollution Control Board transferred both the officials and ironically the male official was transferred to his native district Kulgam. The woman official has been transferred to Ganderbal.
It appears from the 13:50 second video that money was demanded from the visitor to give permission for his Unit.
Chairman State Pollution Control Board B. Sidharta Kumar was not available for his comments while Regional Director SPCB Dr Nadeem Hussain Shah assured stringent action. I havent come across such a video. Please send it to me, I will initiate action, he said.
CNS is in possession of this video. The video has not been made public as it clearly displays the face of woman official. According to CNS, Instead of making it public, CNS has decided to send clip to Regional Director SPCB for action.
