SRINAGAR Police on Saturday said to have seized about 222 kilograms of illegal medicinal plants and arrested the accused in central Kamir Ganderbal district.
A police spokesperson said that acting on specific information, police headed by DySP Hqrs Ganderbal along with DO Gutlibagh conducted search of the house belonging to Zahoor Ahmad ah son of Ghulam Mohammad ah resident of Baba Wayil Gutlibagh.
During search of the house, the spokesperson said huge quantity of forest produce including 181 kilograms of Podophyllum sps (bankakri), 19 kilograms of Sassauria sps (kuth), 10.7 kilograms of Sauromatum sps, 9 kilograms of Allium sps (uttkaar), 2.3 kilograms of Picrorhiza sps (koad), 300 grams of Trillium sps (tripatri) and a weighing machine was recovered from his possession.
In this regard a case FIR number 137/ 2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation is going on, the spokesperson added.
