SRINAGAR: Claiming that imposition of curfew enabled the state government to thwart the attempts of unscrupulous elements in Valley on the eve of Afzal Gurus execution, Minister of State for Home, Sajad Kitchloo Friday said that the scale of low violence in Valley over the Afzal Gurus execution issue showed that people of Kashmir want peace and they dont want to give a chance to hate mongers who are hell bent to disrupt the peace in Valley.
Kitchloo said the government was apprehensive of large scale violence in Valley on the eve of Afzal Gurus execution. We had expected that unscrupulous elements will try their best to create law and order problems but due to efforts of police and security personnel order was maintained. We are happy that normalcy has returned in Valley but at the same time the government doesnt want to take any chances and will not give free hand to trouble makers, Kitchloo said adding that the Centre has yet to decide over the returning of Afzal Gurus body.
