One More Militant Killed In Rafiabad, Toll 5

SRINAGAR  One more militant was killed a gunfight with army in Dooniwari forests of Rafiabad in north Kashmirs Baramulla district, taking the death toll to five.

Sources a militant was killed early Thursday morning in the encounter going on in the dense forests from last couple of days.

Director General of Police SP Vaid took to twitter to confirm death of fifth militant. He said the fifth militant was killed after he fired this morning.

Four militants were killed while an army commando was injured in the firefight, said an army spokesman.

He said the fighting started after a joint party of the police and the army launched searches in the area following a tip-off about the presence of militants.

the bodies of the slain militants were buried with the help of local Auqaf committee at a graveyard in Hamam Markote village today in the evening.

A police officer confirmed that all the five unidentified foreign militants were buried in the area. “The slain belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit”.

Meanwhile, Army’s search party retrieved two militant bodies in Bakhtoor area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora district.

A senior police officer said that the search operation launched in Bakhtoor area by Army’s 36 RR and 4 PARA Commandos following the gunfight on Tuesday, which saw the killing of five army soldiers including an officer of Major rank, is still underway to trace out the infiltrators hiding inside the dense woods.

“Today a joint team of forces recovered the bodies of two militants who were killed three days ago in Bakhtoor area close to the LoC,” the officer said.
