PULWAMA Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has allegedly appointed ineligible candidates as Academic Counsellors at its Pulwama Study Centre here in South Kashmir.
According to sources, some blue-eyed candidates with simple diploma in Rural Development have been appointed as academic counsellors to counsel students of Masters in Rural Development.
This is sheer violation of set norms as minimum eligibility for appointment as an academic counselor is Masters in a particular subject, sources said, adding the eligibility norm is being binned at IGNOU Study centre Pulwama to benefit some blue eyed candidates.
The sources further alleged that these blue eyed ineligible candidates make hey inconvenience with concerned coordinators.
They sell readymade projects to students for rupees five to six thousand, the sources said, adding that the share is mutually divided.
Sources said that this sale of education is degrading quality education and is a dis-service to the society. They demanded authorities to take stern action against these unscrupulous elements who defame a noble profession by their misdeeds.
When coordinator IGNOU Study Centre Pulwama was contacted in this regard he said that he would look into the matter.
Higher authorities of IGNOU also assured to look into the matter. (CNS)
