Candidates allege massive irregularities in setting question papers
SRINAGAR Many candidates who sat in the recently conducted Ph.D. entrance test for Immunology, Biochemistry and Microbiology held at SKIMS Soura have on Tuesday alleged massive irregularities in the process describing it as fraught with inconsistencies.
The aggrieved candidates said that the papers for the examination were set to favour a selective few blue-eyed as the entire content was a copy-paste from many internet sites, very unbecoming of the standard of a Ph.D. level examination that too at the prestigious SKIMS, the highest level tertiary care centre and deemed university of the state.
We are told that the subject experts were not consulted at all for paper setting of some specialties and the examination was deliberately conducted when they were on vacations just to favour a few blue eyed aspirants, said the aggrieved candidates.
The candidates had reportedly submitted the examination forms almost a year ago and there was already an unnecessary delay of almost one year to conduct this examination. This reflects a callous and incompetence of the concerned authorities at SKIMS, they said. What was the need of conducting the examination during vacation when the chances of experts being available are quite less, indicating that vested interests could well have been behind this.
The candidates were particularly agitated at how they reacted to an anonymous email some time ago. When an anonymous email about paper leak was taken seriously without verifying the authenticity of the information, why wasnt any care taken to set the question paper as per some standard, they said. The institute is deviating from an earlier practice of transparency by inviting subject experts to set the paper a few hours before the start of the test.
This raises doubts about the credibility of the whole process, they said.
The aggrieved candidates appealed the higher authorities to look into the matter and intervene so that the deserving are not kept away from what is due to them and the glory of the prestigious SKIMS is not called into question.
