BARAMULLA Police registered a case after Drug Controller Department found medicines worth lakhs buried in a field in Tangmarg area of South Kashmirs Baramulla district.
Sources said that after receiving information, a team led by Assistant Drug Controller Baramulla visited a field in Guguldara Tangmarg and excavated medicines meant for government hospitals, dumped there.
90 per cent of the dumped medicine has not expired yet. Prima facie, it looks the dumped medicine was either to be supplied to government hospitals in Budgam or Baramulla. It is a big scam and the culprits will be exposed, said an official.
He said that medicine has been unearthed at a time when hospitals are facing acute shortage of life saving drugs.
SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmed confirmed that huge quantity of medicines, including syrups and tablets has been recovered from a pit. We have registered a case vide FIR number 58/2018 under section 409, 120B at police station Tangmarg and investigation has been taken up.
The locals while appreciating the role of Drug Controller Department Baramulla demanded stern action against the culprits. (CNS)
