5th Civilian Killing In Past 4 Days, 107 Since January 2017
SRINAGAR A 20-year-old youth was killed and another injured in firing by army at Trehgam village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that army personnel opened fire after a group of youth pelted their vehicles with stones at Zargar Mohalla in Trehgam.
Two youth were hit by bullets and one of them, Khalid Gaffar (20) son of Abdul Gafar Malik was greviously wounded succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

Police confirmed the death and said that investigations will reveal as to how and under what circumstances the incident took place, according to a local news agency, GNS.
Soon after the news about the youth’s killing spread, massive protests erupted in Trehgam and adjoining areas. When report was filed, large scale clashes were going on the area between protestors and government forces.
Five civilians, including a minor girl have been killed in armed forces firing in last four days alone. Official records suggest that at least 106 civilians were killed in forces action, including those near encounter sites since January 2017.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions across Kupwara district have been ordered shut as a precautionary measure, officials said. They said that the step has been taken as a precautionary measure in wake of the youth’s killing.
