SRINAGAR “Daughters of Paradise”, a documentary written, produced and directed by Bilal A Jan has been selected for 11th International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala.
The film has been listed for COMPETITION SECTION in the short documentary Category in the festival commencing from 20th to 24th July 2018 in Trivandrum.
The 38-minute film showcases stories of domestic violence in Kashmiri society. “
Daughters of Paradise” focuses on different case studies and explores various kinds of violence against women and highlights the social dimension of each case”, said Bilal A Jan.
The film is in Kashmiri with English subtitles.
Jan’s earlier film, ‘The Poet of Silence’ is based on Kashmir’s only Gyaanpeeith Award-winning poet Prof. Rahman Rahi.
His other documentary film The Lost Childhood (in Kashmiri language) was selected for Tehran International Short Film Festival in competition section and the 10th Mumbai International film festival (MIFF) in 2008.
