Why sudden change of heart?
BEERWAH Former chief minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday questioned what he called sudden change of heart of disgruntled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members after the collapse of the government.
These PDP MLAs should be asked why they have become upset with the party all of a sudden. And why are they expressing this anger after the fall of the government. Few months ago, during the budget session in Jammu, they were all in praise for Mehbooba Mufti and her government. I didnt get to hear about any complaints, then, Abdullah told reporters during his tour of Beerwah constituency.
He said it needed to be understood why these members have become upset after the fall of the government.
At least four PDP members, including Imran Raza Ansari, who was a former cabinet colleague of Mehbooba Mufti, have accused the party leadership of nepotism.
Mehbooba Mufti not only failed the PDP as a party but also dashed the dreams of her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that he had envisaged,” Imran had said.
“It had become a family show which was run by brothers, uncles and other relatives. The Peoples Democratic Party has become Family Democratic Party.
He said implementation of the power distribution, health, education, water-supply and irrigation infrastructure was done through constituency development funds and augmentations that were equitably and diligently allocated and spent in the constituency. The previous Government chose to turn a blind eye towards unmitigated public grievances and chose to persecute the people of the State, the NC Vice President said.
The NC Vice President said there was a severe deficiency of medical professionals, doctors and teachers at public health institutes and government schools in Beerwah. A lot of doctors, paramedics, nurses and teachers officially posted in Beerwah are working elsewhere. I raised this issue with the Honourable Governor and sought adequate staffing of our health units and schools in Beerwah. I have always been at the disposal of the constituents of Beerwah and will continue to be at your service in the future, the NC Vice President added.
Whatever I have delivered in Beerwah, I have done as your elected representative despite being in the opposition and significant developmental projects were initiated in Beerwah due to these sustained efforts and my commitment to usher Beerwah into a corrective era of growth, development and prosperity, the NC Vice President said.
The NC Vice President said while Governors Rule was not an ideal situation, the present circumstances of turmoil and chaos in the State was not conducive to hold elections. We have sought the dissolution of the State Assembly so that no manipulative games are played with the aspirations and mandate of the people but the present situation is not conducive for the conduct of polls. Our primary concern right now is the restoration of the situation in the State to normalcy and peace as was inherited by the PDP-BJP Government in 2014, the NC Vice President added.
Omar Abdullah was accompanied by his Political Advisor Mr. Tanvir Sadiq and Senior Party Leader Professor Abdul Majeed Matoo besides party functionaries and activists.
