SRINAGAR Following dramatic desertions soon after shock Coup d’état of sorts by the ally BJP, Peoples Democratic Party is convening its legislature party meeting in next few days to chalk out the future strategy.
Party sources said that Mehbooba Mufti is camping in New Delhi at the moment and the day she returns Party Legislature Meeting will be held in Srinagar.
Party legislature from Kokarnag, Abdul Rahim Rather confirmed that they were waiting for the party legislature meet and in this regard all the legislators have been asked to ensure their presence in the meeting.
There are PDP MLAs who have been expressing their anger and frustration. They have every right to express themselves in that meeting. We should not resort to mudslinging, he said adding that important decisions are expected in the party legislature meeting.
PDP chief spokesperson, Rafi Ahmad Mir said that the party has not taken any cognisance of the statements made by the disgruntled leaders because the party president, Mehbooba Mufti is out of station.
He said that once the president returns, they will take cognisance of the statements made by the leaders. We will not appreciate the statements made by the leaders so far but they are part of the party and may have expressed their anger earlier as well. Once we start the party activities, we will hold parlays with them and we hope that the alienation would come to end, he said.
We hope that redressal of the grievances will be done and no harsh step will be taken against any leader as these persons have played pivotal role in the party and were chosen by the former chief minister, late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. We dont want to harm the party, he added.
We appeal the party leaders that there was no need to get disgruntled as party leadership was putting every effort to do best. We want to help the people and at present they need us. People may be against us but we have done whatever was possible during our tenure and will try to do in the future as well, he said
