SRINAGAR A visiting three-member team Press Council of India (PCI) on Tuesday sought the intervention of advisor to governor in initiating welfare measures including institution of welfare scheme and health insurance cover for the journalists of Jammu and Kashmir.
The team called on Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar to discuss the issues being confronted by the media fraternity in the state.
The members of the visiting Sub-Committee include Prabhat Dash, Ashok Upadhyay and Prof Sushma Yadav.
Director Information & Public Relations, Tariq Ahmed Zargar was also present at the meeting.
The PCI team sought the Advisor’s intervention in initiating welfare measures for the journalists of J&K including institution of welfare scheme and health insurance cover, an official spokesman said.
Assuring the full support of the state government, the Advisor said that the suggestions offered by PCI would surely be considered by the department, the spokesman added.
