SRINAGAR Punjabi short fiction film Anni- The Blind was screened on the fourth day of Kashmir World Film Festival (KWFF) at Tagore Hall here.
The festival is being presented by Zee TV & Zee Cinema networks and J&K Tourism is the title sponsor.
The film is a story of a blind girl (Simran), who accidentally kills a boy who attempts to rape her. The filmmaker wants to show the helplessness of blind girls who are victims of rape and cant even recognize their rapists.
I am thankful to the organizers of the festival for finding my film worth to screen in this festival and audience has also given an overwhelming response to the film, said Sarvdeep Singh Munna, the writer and director of the film.
It is for the first time that a Punjabi short fiction film has been screened on a big screen in valley attracting the massive audience.
The other films that were screened in the festival include Gray Umbrella (Iran), When Autumn Comes (Polland/ Iran), Rage (India), Nayi Ammi (India), The Impasse (India), Phulsiri (Nepal), Haanduk (India) and Very Good (India).
Actor and Director Rajit Kapur interacted with the students and the films buffs in the morning session interested in making their careers into the world of acting. He also did a practical exercise with the students to help them to vanish out their fear for acting.
Festival Director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said: I am happy to screen such films that always remain away from the gazes of people or they are unable to obtain it and I am satisfied to see the overwhelming response of the public especially the youth who like to watch our selected films
