SRINAGAR A policeman injured in a militant attack in Kak Sarai area of Srinagar last week has succumbed at SKIMS Soura, police said today.
An official said that head constable Habibullah who was critically injured in a militant attack near Dental college in Karan Nagar a few days back succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS this morning. Two cops and as many civilians were injured in the attack.
Meanwhile, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Srinagar to pay homage to slain head constable Habibullah, who succumbed to his injuries today at SKIMS Soura.
A police spokesperson said the civil and police officers led by Director General of Police S.P Vaid laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the slain policeman.
Among others who paid floral tributes include ADGP Armed AK Choudhary IPS, Director Vigilance SJM Geelani IPS, IGP Kashmir S.P Pani IPS, DIG CKR V.K Birdi IPS, DIG BSF Ops Harilal, DC Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and other senior officers, he said.
According to the spokesperson, the slain policeman Habibullah was the lone bread earner of his family, and is survived by three daughters, RiffatAra, 21, whose marriage was scheduled next week, Insha, a student of 10th class, Rubeena, a student of 6th class, two sons Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din , 22, and Kaiser Ahmad Lone, 26, besides wife and aged parents.
