SRINAGAR: Authorities have decided to lift curfew across Kashmir on Saturday in view of the peaceful situation in the valley.
Barring a few incidents, the situation in the Valley remained peaceful (today), and keeping this factor in view, we have decided not to impose curfew on Saturday, the director general of the police (DGP) in Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Prasad, said this evening.
No restrictions will remain in force tomorrow, as, except a few incidents in Handwara, Bandipur and Budgam, the overall situation remained peaceful, he said, adding the one policeman had been injured in a clash in a Bandipur area.
Except for some relaxation in a few areas over the two previous days, the entire Kashmir Valley has been under curfew since Saturday morning last week when Muhammad Afzal Guru, who was on death row in Delhis Tihar Jail, was executed over the parliament attack case.
