SRINAGAR The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Friday sought a report from the authorities for exploring possibilities for carrying out surgeries to cancer patients every day in a week.
Hearing PIL on the issue of lack of facilities to the cancer patients in SKIMS, the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice M K Hanjura sought the report after counsel appearing in the PIL advocate Syed Musaib submitted that per week, only four surgeries are being performed due to insufficient operation theaters.
To this state counsel submitted that the authorities shall ensure all possibilities for carrying out surgeries every day in a week. The Court has been informed that there was a long list of cancer patients, who are waiting in queue to get operated.
He said that due to insufficient infrastructure the need was not catered towards the cancer patients as such he submitted to the court that the authorities be directed to ensure that surgeries are carried out every day in a week.
The Court also sought action taken report with regard to the construction of the operation theaters as also timeline be indicated within how much time the operation theater will be constructed.
