SRINAGAR A youth who was critically injured after a CRPF jeep ran over him during clashes in Nowhatta area of old city on Friday has succumbed to injuries at Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
Kaiser Ahmad (24) of Fatehkadal Srinagar was critically injured along with another youth after a CRPF BP (Bullet Proof) jeep of 128 battalion ran over them during protests outside Jamia Masjid soon after Friday prayers.
Sources said Kaiser succumbed to injuries at SKIMS around midnight.
Kaiser was on a ventilator and as per his CT scan he had Haemaothorax, Pneumothorax, Rib Fractures And Pelvic Fracture.
Another youth Mohammad Younis (30) of Dalgate Srinagar as per CT scan report has fracture zygomatic bones b/l. Multiple facial bones fracture.
Earlier, a large number of youth resorted to stone-pelting on forces after Friday prayers.
To ward off further protests authorities snapped the internet services in Srinagar early on Saturday and clamped curbs on the public movement in several sensitive areas.
Meanwhile, National Conference working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to microblogging site Twitter and wrote: “Earlier they tied people to the fronts of jeeps & paraded them around villages to deter protestors now they just drive their jeeps right over protestors. Is this your new SOP @MehboobaMufti sahiba? Ceasefire means no guns so use jeeps?” (Sic)

Responding to Omar Abdullah, A Twitter user wrote: “He should forever hold his peace! It was under his reign that the most brutal forms of collective repression were refined! Do we really need to list all the atrocities?? Perhaps he forgot because often he was peddling his mountain bike while people were slaughtered. Makes me ill!” (Sic)
