SRINAGAR Awami Action Committee held a meeting at Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal under the chairmanship of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to finalize the preparations for observing the 51st death anniversary of Muhajir-e-Milat and Mufasir-e-Quran Mirwaiz Muhammad Yousuf Shah that falls on June 2 (17 Ramadhan).
A statement here said that on Friday, recitation of Holy Quran will be held at the historic Jamia Masjid for Muhajir-e-Milat, Shaheed-e-Milat Moulana Muhammad Farooq and all martyrs of Kashmir, while as on 17 Ramadan (Saturday), a congregational gathering will be held after Zuhr prayers at historic Aali Masjid Eidgah to highlight the religious, social and political contributions of Muhajir-e-Milat in which religious and resistance leaders will pay homage to him.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will shed light on the battle of Badr also known as Jang-e-Badr and highlight the significance of this battle in the light of Islamic perspective which falls on the same day.
Meanwhile, in connection with the death anniversary of Muhajir-e-Milat in PaK, a function will be organised at Municipal Corporation Hall Muzafarabad after Asr prayers which will be presided by PaK prime minister Raja Farooq Haider wherein tributes will be paid to Muhajir-e-Milat. The function will be organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation cell.
Meanwhile, speaking at the meeting today, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq stressed on the gathering to remain steadfast and to forge unity on all fronts as Kashmir movement was passing through an important phase. He said it is time to take the freedom movement to its logical conclusion.
The meeting strongly condemned the forces action of last Friday at the Jamia Masjid wherein dozens of worshippers sustained injuries in pellet firing. The meeting said that entire area around the grand masjid is being deliberately turned into a military garrison to undermine the importance of Jamia Masjid.
