SRINAGAR High Court on Friday directed the Pahalgam Development Authority to inform it about the installation of appliances and mechanism affective Solid Waste Management in and around the resort.
The direction followed submissions by the CEO PDA that the machines for treatment of sewerage waste in the resort will be installed in near future and the court asked the authorities to apprise it in this connection by next date of hearing in the Public Interest Litigation.
The Court said the likewise directions were already issued at Jammu wing of High Court wherein Government was directed to ensure that SWM is taken in the entire state. Meanwhile in tune with the earlier direction a representative of Hotel Grand Mumtaz submitted before the court that the invoice with regard to plantation of 7500 trees be issued by DFO forest division Lidder by tomorrow and as and when the same is issued they undertake to furnish and plant these trees in and around the resort as per the court directions.
Court in this regard directed the CEO to submit his affidavit indicating therein that these trees have been supplied by the hotelier and planted in and around the resort. With regard to renovations of structures of natives of Phalgam which are in dilapidated condition, court has been informed that BOCA authorities are only permit the
hoteliers to undertake the repairs and renovations of their structures and natives of Phalagam which are living below poverty line are not being allowed to do so.
