SRINAGAR ICS Oranges beat ICS Reds by 3-2 in the first game of Islamia College Inter-Group Football Tournament played at college ground on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by department of Physical Education of Islamia College Srinagar.
The game was played at a good pace with both teams looking to score. Burhan drew the first blood for ICS Oranges scoring a goal in the seventeenth minute. With a goal in arrears, ICS Reds upped the ante in search of an equaliser but to no avail as teams went into half-time break with Oranges leading by one goal.
The second half saw Reds try their level best to score but couldnt get one until the dying minutes of the contest. At the fag end of the game, Youhan found the net to make it 1-1 and it didnt change when the final whistle was blown.
The stalemate meant a penalty shootout which saw Oranges winning the game 3-2.
Earlier the players of both the teams were introduced to Prof. Shamim Ah Shamim convenor college sports committee who expressed his satisfaction for the fact that boys have shown interest despite the Holy Ramzan. Today, ICS Blues will take on ICS Yellows in the second game of the tournament.
