SrinagarSushil Pandit, owner of Hive Communications India Pvt. Ltd and Kashmiri Pandit known for making anti-Muslims remarks, was booked for tweeting fake news claiming the death of five CRPF men in a militant attack in Pampore.
Police in Kashmir took cognizance of the matter when it observed that tweet amounts to an offence under law, said a police spokesman in a statement issued here.
The Police have registered a case at Police Station Pampore under FIR No: 49/2018 under section 505 RPC (Statements conducing to public mischief). Investigation in the instant matter has been initiated to ascertain the facts pertaining to the case, he said. Police has also directed a communication to the authorities at Twitter India, requesting them to provide the details of the particular Twitter user so that he is made to face the law, the spokesman added.
Besides, people are requested not to pay heed to such unverifiable information and to stay away from rumor-mongering.
Questioning the Ramazan ceasefire, Pandit, tweeted the fake news on death of five CRPF troopers.
We have taken a serious note of this tweet and investigations have been set into motion,” said an official.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah had also demanded an action against the Pandit over the tweet about the fake news of killing of CRPF personnel.
Given that NO ONE else has this news I think its safe to assume this is fake news spread with a malicious intent, the subtext being Muslimterrorists have killed Hindu CRPF jawans. These sorts of blatant lies must face legal action, Omar tweeted.
