Faithfully and determinedly following the path trodden by his fore-fathers Molvi Mohammad Farooq continued his life long struggle for the overall enlightenment, upliftment and inspiration of the people of J&K in the varied and wider spectrum of life viz religious, political, social and educational arenas.
It would require volumes to speak of the magnificent contribution made by martyred Molvi Farooq to the sublime cause of Jammu and Kashmir since he stepped into the glare of public life and donned the mantle of leadership of the Kashmiris who were steeping in appallingly hostile conditions engulfing them on all fronts. He raised his voice against the tyrannical subjugation of the people on one hand and brought about a revolutionary awakening and awareness on matters embracing socio-religious aspects on the other.
Standing in a rock-solid manner Molvi Farooq fought against all the nefarious designs of the enemies who hatched a miasma of conspiracies for cultural aggression with a view to bring the people of J&K into the fold of so-called mainstream. Molvi Farooq served as a cementing force among the people of J&K and prepared them both mentally and physically to counter any diabolical move of the enemies who tried to foist cultural aggression and political imperialism upon the people in the garb of democracy, socialism and secularism with hollow, shallow and misleading slogans and strategies.
Being an illustrious scion of the highly influential Mirwaiz dynasty the people rallied behind him in the monolithically solid and faithful manner braving all types of ordeals, adversities and excesses heaped upon them. His followers scornfully spurned all types of temptations, incentives and other allurements whatsoever offered to them by Indian Government from time to time in order to deflect them from the sublime cause Molvi Farooq stood for all his life and for which he ultimately laid down his life.

Anticipating the injured feelings of the people of J&K in the wake of Indira-Abdullah Accord of 1975, it was obviously at the behest of Molvi Farooq that the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Z.A. Bhutto was obliged to give a call for general strike on Friday (28th Feb. 1975) across the length and breadth of J&K signaling to the entire world community in unambiguous, loud and clear terms the outright rejection of the erroneous and objectionable Accord by the people of J&K. The call was a total success reflecting the overall influence and overwhelming popularity of Molvi Mohammad Farooq. In the din and noise created by self-styled and unscrupulous leaders of Kashmir like Sheikh Abdullah who made several flip-flops suiting different occasions and their selfish motives to completely Indianise Kashmir, one authentic and audacious voice of Molvi Farooq was heard and heeded by the people who aspired in the heart of their hearts for independent entity of their own. Molvi Farooq was really a lone formidable force to be reckoned with whom all the pro-Indian high-statured leaders like Sheikh Abdullah were scared of in their skin.
Notwithstanding the fact that some newly surfaced leaders tend to ignore the magnificent contribution of Molvi Mohammad Farooq, the people of J&K will uphold and endear the cherished goal for which the prominent, popular and charismatic leader laid down his life. People at large know it in heart of their hearts that Mirwaiz dynasty has got a long standing scintillating track record of sacrifices and contributions to the sublime cause.
Going by this reliable and relevant track-record the people are very much aware of the fact that the leaders coming of this dynasty like Molvi Farooq then and now Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq are the real and reliable representatives of the people of J&K. The people look up to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as the symbol of real and reliable leadership who will never compromise upon the cherished principles which people hold very dear to their hearts. He will never let them down whatever the circumstances might be as he has made it his mission to faithfully follow the path pioneered by his forefathers.
