SRINAGAR: Kashmiri students who are pursuing their higher studies in various universities of Hyderabad staged protests against the hanging of Afzal Guru and offered funeral prayers in absentia at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) campus.
At around 10 am the Kashmiri students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Osmania University gathered at the main gate of Manuu and offered funeral prayers in absentia. After offering funeral prayers the students who had carried placards in their hands held a demonstration for hours against the hanging of Afzul Guru. Amid slogans of is Indias collective conscience satisfied? We want justice and Afzal Guru- victim of injustice students walked through the various departments of the varsity.
Speaking on the occasion, the students said that Burying Guru inside the jail and rejecting to hand over his body to the family was an extreme kind of injustice.
While demanding return of Afzal Gurus body to his family the students demanded that since the justice has not been dispensed properly but burying Afzal inside the jail is a big injustice. We demand that his body be returned to his family member so that burial is done according to the religious rites.
Questing the justice done, the students said it is too unfortunate that in a big democracy like India a person has been hanged without giving a lawyer and a fair trial
GOI has hanged Guru to make communal parties like BJP, RSS, VHP happy and to achieve political gains in view of 2014 general elections they said.
Despite the apparent evidences against the killers of Rajiv Gandhi, the government is using dilly dallying tactics in executing them but why Afzal Guru has been hanged without keeping the sentiments of Kashmiris into consideration they questioned.
Talking about the judicial system of the country, the students said that it looks like countries law is meant for a particular community. Why conspirators of Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blast, Gujrat massacre and Babri Masjid demolition are free of charge?
